    How will it march steadily when we have less than 3000 numbers for the year?

    I am sure we have many pplicants with PD in 2002 and 2003. I would be surprised if PD moves beyond April 2002 in FY 2009.

    Assuming no other miracle happens!

    is our only huge hope. Else I think EB3-I has a long way to go to even reach 2004. Let's see.

    Wooooooooohoooooooooooooo...

    I received a sms saying that my case status has been updated (weird they sent it @ 9:25 pm PT). I was like here comes another biometrics appointment... but still let's check the status online. To my surprise and by god's grace, case status was changed to "Card/Document Production" (still cannot believe it). I dunno what triggered this but i did contact my Congressman yesterday. My wife's status has also changed to "decision" - should move to "Card production" soon.

    My suggestion to all of you - please don't lose patience and do whatever you can from your end to expedite your case. It's your GC and you've to make sure you get it. Contact I/O, infopass and congressman/senator. Don't expect anything from your lawyers as they only care about money and it is in their best interest to see your case pending (more RFEs, EADs, APs, etc).

    Congratulations and best of luck to you on this new journey. I was looking through forums today and saw that I have exactly the same issue as you. (even the email text was identical to what you posted). Can you please inform how you spoke to second level IO?
    I plan to contact local congresswoman as well, was there a letter or something you faxed over to them?

    I'm getting married in August and my wife will be here in Sep/Oct. My PD is pretty recent - May 2007 EB2 (India). I'm planning to file my 140/485 (concurrent) and maintain my H1B for now and also bring my wife on H4. As long as she wants to be on H4, I'll maintain my H1 and once my PD comes CURRENT again, I'll file her 485.

    Now, I've heard that my 485 won't be approved before my date is CURRENT again. Once the bulletin releases and if my date is CURRENT, I'll send my wife's papers to USCIS immediately. But it seems like I can get FP notice even before my dates become CURRENT. That case, my FP and other stuff might finish early and my wife's late. Does this affect her case in anyway as there is every chance that my 485 gets approved early and hers late. Will she be "out of status" because of her 485 pending and mine approved.

    What do you suggest ??

    mine belongs to NSC..I read in another thread that the FP will expire every 15 months and that may be the reason why most of the July filers are getting FP notice again...

    That is not reason.

    Here is my situation.

    In 2007 august i gave first time fingerprints.

    In 2008 august i gave second time fingerprints.

    Now i got another fingerprint. My service center is also NSC. There is some thing going on, i dont know why they are sending multiple fingerprints.

    I agree. I feel that the only thing that would be acheived if IV became a paid website is loss of membership. Then our PR documents will start with "IV is an organization of 200 members who are affected by ... "

    Human nature is such that a few lead and others follow. We should recognize this and move on.

    Why the hell wouldn't you let the iBoy version in? It's pretty sweet. The only thing I'd suggest is fixing the proportions for the buttons, there a little out of wack.
    It might be 'sweet' but I explained in my post above yours. I didnt ask for modifications, I asked for 'skins'.

    People want to bash consultancies for their practices. I am currently trying to recruit a c++ programmer to work with me, and I find resumes on dice from US citizens and GC holders, most of these resumes are bloated to a large extent.
    Resume bloating is a common practice, there will be very few honest people, it is upto the employer to do strict scrutiny on resumes.

    Let us not associate resume bloating or consultancies with retro situation.

    Now let's take a step back and determine how most "professional organizations" like IEEE, AILA, and myriad other "associations" function...

    Does it make more sense now?

    Physicians have physicians' associations/bodies/organizations.
    Engineers have their own. So do pilots, nurses, actors, screen writers, photographers, sales professionals, etc.

    If we pride ourselves as an organization of high-skilled professionals, why not look at it as such and operate as such??? (Those who do not currently contribute may also be motivated to participate, even if just for the tangible benefits... )

    Hi rheoretro,

    First of all I commend your and everyone in putting their effort. I totally agree with you that we need more people and money. I think people are first to come and money will automatically follow.

    While word-of-mouth is effective we can augment this to get attention using other means:

    1. We can persuade news portals to advertise for our cause in a corner that might help us to get more people. Most Indians I know read Indian news everyday. If we can convince e.g., eenadu.net a telugu newspaper, to run ads we can get attention of lot people.

    2. Please start selling the current acheivements that are not confidential. Like you might have been successful in persuading a high profile senator about this problem. Put his quotes on our site and also possible grab attention from bloggers.

    3. If we can also tap academia who support skilled immigration that would help us. Let us put there studies in our reference section (I am assuming we didn't do this yet). This
    makes senator to reference our site and make their lives easy.

    4. Please do not discount freewill members who do not have a GC problem but savor
    helping others with immigration problem. It could be Americans or Immigrants we'll get them all in.

    I think these actions will help us grow our strength. I know it is easy said than done. I will send a mail to rediff and eenadu to put our banner on their frontpage. If anyone has contacts working for these website. That will make it whole lot easier.

    Looks like I need to take up a priests job somewhere and file another GC in E4 category which is current. God willing, I might get GC soon.
    I remember a few "shlokas" from Gita... that should suffice. I wish they allowed interfiling from EB3 to EB4.

    Actually, I thought what the heck and tried it from my personal email. And they responded in 2 days. The response was all BS...full of grammatical and factual errors with strange sentence constructions...seemed to have been texted by a highschooler.

    What actually worked was POJ method of reaching NSC IO.

    9/3/09: IO was curt, but I insisted on assigning my case to an IO.
    9/4/09: IO was all sweet and honey...told me that my case had already been assigned to an IO because of my call the previous day. (This is important, folks - getting your case assigned to an IO). She was so approachable, I asked her if she could approve my case now. She obviously said no, but said she would see what she could do. This was the best response from NSC so far. Asked me to wait for one more day. It was long weekend, so had to wait 3 looooong days.
    9/8/09: IO gave the approval news. 5 minutes later, my wife called and got a really annoying IO, who instead of looking up her case, went on a tirade. That night got the email.
    9/14/09: Got the card.

    I did try 2 Senator's office, a really hopeless CongressWoman, both Obamas, both Bidens, Napolitano, Mayorkas, Pelosi, Ombudsman, two NCSC SRs, AILA (through my attorney). And nothing worked. It was funny that the Senator's office called me to wait 60 more days. When I told her of my approval, she was short with me. So, in my case, nothing worked except the POJ method and personal perseverance. Keep on calling until you find a good IO to help you. Good luck!

    just presenting a possible reason why what paskal proposed in his post does not work well in IV.......its not a question of whether phone calls are important or not....its a question of making a significant number of forum stakeholders (and not 1-2%) get to act on any initiative......fund raising/ calling efforts etc....

    i genuinely believe that the core members go above and beyond whats expected to do what they are doing for IV - its truly remarkable...they all have busy lives and it takes great conviction and dedication to take the time out and do this...but why are the people still not responding despite the obvious pitfalls of not acting on GC related initiatives.......

    maybe its lethargy, inaction, indifference etc.......but we should be open to considering that just maybe, a vast and silent majority of IVians do not feel a sense of representation in the organization and hence do not react as enthusiastically as they should........legitimacy among the constituents often comes with representation

    why did most kingdoms around the world perish and give way to democracies......bcos the kings taxed the public based on their whims and fancies......elected govts may do the same but people still pay up and if they dont agree - they know they have a choice at the next elections.......

    and no, i dont deserve to be the CEO - neither do i have a performance track record nor credibility here......should not stop me from voicing a contrarion view though

    Thanks sayantan76! we already know that there is less participation from our members.

    Nobody here exactly knows why the participation rate is less. Some of reasons could be:

    i have my EAD, thats more than enough for me
    i am in my I-140 or PERM stage, why should i bother now?
    i don't think GC process is a big problem, i am sure i will get one day
    i don't care. I will sit and watch others do this for me


    I will not blame the core members. I understand their Vision and it aligns with mine. How do you enforce a vision in IV community when the participation is less?
    How can any action survive with 100-200 members participation? look at numbersusa and learn from their strengths.

    Having said that, i have a few suggestions though. Lets talk to our friends and relativies, understand their concerns/issues and communicate IV's vision to them in a better way and get them to participate.
    Lets set some intermediate goals to track our progress.

    Lets go IV
