I'm July 2007 filer and per the Aug visa bulletin my I-485 application is current (PD - Feb, 2006). I raised a SR with NSC on 15-Jul to find out the status of my application and here is the response I got from them today:

The processing of your case has been delayed. A check of our records establishes that your case is not yet ready for decision, as the required investigation into your background remains open.

Until the background investigation is completed, we cannot move forward on your case. These background checks are required to be completed on all applicants who apply for the immigration benefit you are seeking. We will make every effort to make a decision on this case as soon as the background checks are complete. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact customer service at the number provided below.

I'm kind of worried as I haven't seen folks getting this response. I haven't gotten even a DMV ticket and not sure why would I get that kind of response. Please advise what should be my next course of action and if there is anything I can do from my end.

    Thanks,
    Praky

This is the agenda for Bush's agenda to India

He outlined his plans for his forthcoming visit to India and Pakistan. He said India and the US will be holding extensive dliberations on five broad areas:

    Defeating terrorism.
    Promoting democracy.
    Improving economic ties.
    Health, environment and climate control.
    Nuclear energy co-operation

    http://ia.rediff.com/news/2006/feb/22ndeal4.htm?q=tp&file=.htm

there is an agenda on Improving economic ties . Will it be possible to touch base with the corresponding Indian representative on the above meeting to stress on removing retrogression. This would be a good platform to include the idea bcos of higher visibility and more negotiations possibility.

She cannot make it to the rally.

why do we request Zoe Lofgren to come Peaceful protest march?. Please send her email or call her.

Tell her about your rally and ask her to contribute. This will help us to more support.

I don't know why but we tend to be satisfied with lsmall benefits...
I agree with you "something (EAD and AP) is better than nothing"
But i bet you ..you will find your self in the same situation of agony and endless waiting for the final Green card.
I bet most of the people don't use your ead and AP as it puts you in a gray "Adjustment of status". They are good to have though. But you will see...how painful it is to decide to use them or not..

What i want to say is that being able to apply for EAD and AP is not the end of the battle..you will be stuck in a depressing situation waiting for the final green card. How do i know? .. I went through it...waiting for GC for the past 4 years.

I dont know its FBI or its just the USCIS incompetence but waiting in the final stage is horrible. Every time you travel you are scared...AP as for as my lawyer goes IT does not guarantee 100% entry in to the country.

After you apply for AP its only 1 year H1 increments.

What i am saying why dont we try for the overall improvement of the GC processing. Why dont we be firm about not wasting the GC numbers and recapturing the unused numbers.

We had a small revolt (peaceful way) and its successful. We dont want to stop there.

LETS FIGHT FOR THE OVERALL IMPROVEMENT OF THE GC PROCESSING

I hope you guys are with me..looking for your comments
I am wondering about the same question. Recently, I read about the portability rules and they are so unspecific that I am not sure I want to take advantage of them. Not even Mr. Shusterman could give an assertive answer in his Q&A session (http://immigration.about.com/library/weekly/aa012902b.htm). He said you should not renounce your job two days after the 180 have passed, but when is the right time? I am getting more and more confused and depressed about this whole situation and about finding the right moment to decide whether I still want this.

EB-3 India is last in the line so first EB-2 (WW) than EB-2 India/china/mexico, then EB-3 (WW) then EB-3 India/China/Mexico... basically my common sense tells me EB-3 India will get a big 'ZERO'....

There is a spillover of 22000 visas from FB to EB starting Sep 01 2008. Does anybody know how this spillover is divided between EB1/EB2/EB3?

Can we expect 28.6% of this spillover in EB3? Just like we get 28.6% of annual quota?

So far what I have seen from various forums, looks like its a standard RFE for most of the cases.
Asking for updated G-325A(Its an updated form little different than what we submitted during july 2007) and EVL.

Just submitted my evidences today to USCIS to the RFE I received on March 19th. Hopefully it may mean that all other evidences are fine...like BC, MC and Medicals....

hey appreciate your info thanks and I will post what I my RFE is all about...

Recently, one of my friend's dad came to Texas and got sick and the bill came to $60K. Unfortunatley, he did not buy travelers insurance and is fighting an uphill battle with the hospital.

My parents are coming next month, so I did a detailed research on all the insurance firms, both in India and in USA and I found that most of the ICICI or Tata-AIG plans have limited coverage, which limits the number of days in an ICU or visits by doctors etc.. Even if the plan has a $100K max, the plan may only cover upto $1000 per day for 30 days or so and then there is limitation for ICU and other surgeries. However, if you take a comprehensive coverage, then whatever the expenses, or wherever the charges are incurred, it does not matter. The total amount upto $100K will be covered and it does not limit ICU charges or room charges or doctor visits etc.

The only reason we need an insurance for parents is to cover emergencies, rather than regular doctor visits. Generally, any emergency run 60-70K, so I would recommend a minimum of $100K and do a comprehensive coverage. I have worked with IMG or check this guy at http://www.visitorshealthinsurance.com/
I even called IMG to ensure that this guy is an authorized re-seller/broker for the insurance.

Additionally, I did not find any insurance that covers pre-existing conditions. So just pray that they are healthy during their stay in US.

Yes, it is little expensive, but better peace of mind with comprehensive. If you do a local US insurance, then it is easy to get the insurance paper work done, when needed, rather than doing an Indian based insurance, which may need additional paper work and money transfer may get delayed.

Hello I got a yellow form 221(g) during my interview. Got my passport and approval back during the interview.
Are other people in PIMS getting this yellow form/ 221(g) stating that "when administrative processing is completed in your case we will contact you"?
This will allow me to decide if I am stuck in PIMS or something else.
**** 28 days since interview, visa approved today****

Dear Vamsi, SVK, NK, Shahuja, Abuddyz, lost_in_gc, and all eligible visa aspirants:

I just got an email from the Chennai consulate, 29th day from the interview, stating the visa was stamped today:

    "Thank you for your e-mail.

Our records show that your visa was issued today, January 31. You
should be receiving your passport/visa soon.

    Visa Information Unit
    American Consulate General

    Chennai 600006, India
    Telephone: 91 44 2857 4242
    Fax: 91 44 2811 2027

    Website: http://chennai.usconsulate.gov"

This means there is light at the end of the tunnel. Please have faith in your abilities, and in your God. You will hear back soon.

Moral of the story: "Never use a Consulate in India for visa re-validation again."

Please learn from this story, and never again trust Consulates in India for extension purposes.

    God bless you all.
